Galveston's Zone 9, subtropical climate is perfect for gardening and enjoying outdoor activities year-round.  While July and August are normally hot (with highs in the 80's and 90s), the rest of the year is mild.  Prevailing south winds during the summer months help keep things bearable. January is the coldest month with lows averaging around 50­°F.  August is the hottest month with highs averaging around 87­°F. Throughout the year, Galveston stays relatively humid, with an annual average rainfall of 43.84 Inches. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st to the end of November. September is Galveston's wettest month.
